Parandur and Hosur Greenfield Airports Set to Propel Tamil Nadu’s Economic Growth.

In a bid to accelerate economic development, particularly along the high-growth Chennai–Bengaluru corridor, the Tamil Nadu government is fast-tracking the development of two major greenfield airport projects at Parandur and Hosur.

The Parandur airport, located about 85 km west of Chennai, is expected to significantly ease congestion at the city’s existing airport. It is also poised to drive industrial growth in surrounding areas, including the electronics and automobile manufacturing hub at Sriperumbudur and the planned logistics hub in Arakkonam. Once completed, the airport is projected to handle up to 100 million passengers annually, positioning it as a major aviation gateway for the region.

Meanwhile, the Hosur airport, located in western Tamil Nadu around 85 km from Bengaluru International Airport, will serve as a vital enabler for the region’s fast-paced industrialisation. With a planned capacity of 30 million passengers annually, the airport is expected to strengthen connectivity and infrastructure for industries across the area.

Together, the Parandur and Hosur projects are seen as critical infrastructure developments that will support Tamil Nadu’s ambitions of becoming a $1 trillion economy and a key industrial hub in South Asia.
